Gleambarrow has a yearly average temperature of 27°C (80°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a hot 32°C (89°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 23°C (73°F). Gleambarrow covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 3056 m (10026 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Gleambarrow was founded durring the early 12th century in summer of the year 1135, by Nal̄ůh Stockton. The establishment of Gleambarrow was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Nal̄ůh Stockton electing to pay people to resettle in Gleambarrow.

Gleambarrow was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 12th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Gleambarrow is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature plaster covered brickwork used to form structures with an emphasis on symmetry, proportion, geometry and the regularity of parts. Orderly arrangements of columns, pilasters and lintels, as well as the use of semicircular arches, hemispherical domes, niches and aediculae can be found everywhere such that only size of building and yard can be used to measure the general prosparity of a given building's owners due to a general wealthy feeling the style gives off.

Gleambarrow is was constructed arround several narrow paverstone mainstreets which cross one another at certain axies, with smaller streets branching off of them to premit acess to the many buildings deeper into the road network. The overall fashion is remenessent of a circulatory system, or other organic construct, and is quite effishent in its design. The town sits behind an impressive looking clay brick wall. The wall is notable for querried stone blocks being used to renforce the clay bricks in the expected manner and locations. While the wall was built to the exact specifications of modern fortifications, one has to wonder why the money invested into creating such a well fortified wall wasnt spent on a less impressive looking wall crated from sturdier materials. Gleambarrow's walls would endure a brief bombardment, but only from light siege weapons. It seems more likly the town's walls were not designed with defence in mind but rather lending the town a certain air with visitors. The town's boondoggle-of-a-fortified wall are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the towns defences.

A quick look in any direction shows Gleambarrow is filled with vices. There are many taverns, brothels are advertising their services on the streets, cardsharks are plying their illicit trade within public squairs, and every shop has at least three signs advertising various sales on goods. That alone wouldn’t be too noticeable, if it wasn’t just so omnipresent and overwhelmingly how the people of this town live. Or if the general public wasn’t so enthusiastically, openly, and merrily participating in these activities.

Civic Infrastructure

Gleambarrow has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Gleambarrow. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Gleambarrow's parks.

Gleambarrow has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Gleambarrow.

Gleambarrow has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Gleambarrow has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Gleambarrow has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Gleambarrow's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Gleambarrow possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Large Town. Gleambarrow's grid is powered by hydrogalvanic generators.

Gleambarrow's old civil lighting system was converted to Galvanic Lamps recently, and expanded to provide nighttime illumination to all city streets.

Gleambarrow has a first rate hospital which caters to anyone in need of long term medical care.

Gleambarrow has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Gleambarrow's natural decorations nor waterways.

Gleambarrow has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Gleambarrow has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Gleambarrow's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is best known for its functional shapes, abstract shapes used sparingly for decor, simple color schemes, holistic design, and basic industrial materials. Its simple designs were created to be beautiful, functional, and mass-producible. The style used little to no embellishment or ornamentation, instead drawing attention to the streamlined design, such as flat roofs to create a simple, geometric look. The simplicity masks the style's nearly sinister functionality, as every last feature is designed to guide the people living in the building in how to make the most efficient use of the structure.

In Gleambarrow snow is warm to the touch and does not melt within city limits. Also it only happens during summer.

The Spider, Assassin (Giant) near Gleambarrow are known to be quite timid.

Gleambarrow's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves bloodletting to channel Enchantment energies of tier 1 via guttural bellowing.

Points of Interest

Gleambarrow is remarkably well-fortified for a site of its size and role. Tall, stout walls, strong points inside the community, concentric defenses, a strategic terrain location, or a large body of standing troops might be present. Some threat is thought to exist that makes maintaining this fortification worthwhile, though it may come at a dear cost to the locals. The community’s suzerain may be uncomfortable with these defenses, as they could just as easily be used to defy the ruler.

Gleambarrow is known for its well built pedestrian paths, which include foot bridges to cross the main street at several high-traffic areas.

POI
